Why play on Rondo
How to play
The goal
Checkmate the opposing king: attack it so that no move can get it out of check. A king with no legal move that is not in check is stalemate, a draw.
How the pieces move
Rooks move in straight lines, bishops diagonally, queens both; knights jump in an L; kings move one square. Pawns step forward, capture diagonally, and promote on the last rank. Castling and en passant are included.
Draws and the clock
Threefold repetition, the fifty-move rule and insufficient material are draws. Online games give each move two minutes — let it run out and the game is forfeited.

- Install Rondo and tap the game. No sign-up.
- An opponent is seated in seconds — a real player or a computer opponent if nobody is around.
